The Thunderbolt was destroyed by the city on November 17, 2000. To many it was a beautiful living monument of Coney Island in its glory days. The Thunderbolt can be spotted in the films Annie Hall, He Got Game and Requiem for a Dream (amongst others). The majority of these photos were taken the day after the destruction. Years later, the lot is overgrown with weeds and littered with garbage.
